The casualties would be huge... being that helicopter pilots would fail and crash massive warhead bearing helios into their own bases.

Yeah. Like they'd ever actually make it into the helicopters, and remember to refuel, or how to work their pants.

That was just on TV the other day. All the world powers around that time had some tight lipped experiments going on with drugs at the time. US scientists dubbed LSD a "truth serum" and thought feeding it to people during interogations was the greatest idea ever.

Yeah, thats how a couple drugs came about. Pretty much every truth drug just makes them hallucinate till they don't know how to lie.
Problem is most of the time they don't know how to tell the truth, either.
